Jeff Wadlow gives us some info on the X-FORCE movie!

http://www.wallgc.com/images/2012/11/comics-wolverine-psylocke-marvel-comics-x-force-nightcrawler-captain-britain-deadpool-comic-character-HD-Wallpapers.jpg

In case you haven't heard, there is most definitely going to be an X-FORCE movie- and yes; it's going to be good! Kick-Ass 2 writer [and director] Jeff Wadlow has revealed some of his favorites from the X-FORCE comics and even a possible hint as to who we should expect to see in the final version of the film! He also distinguishes the difference between the X-Men and the actual X-FORCE team! If you look throughout the Marvel Comics, there have been a few X-Force books, one of them being about a character by the name of Cable, and another known as Warpath. Warpath is in X-Men: Days of Future Past [comic version and hopefully movie as well!] so it’s safe to assume that he’ll make it into the X-FORCE film.. However, the question is whether or not Cable [along with his pals Deadpool and Domino] could end up being introduced in the X-Men film universe as well. If anything, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine may end up becoming Cable since in the Ultimate Marvel universe, this is what happens.. Not to mention, based on the Days of Future Past footage showcased at the San Diego Comic-Con [as seen in the link], we did read about a graying Wolverine who ends up traveling back in time to meet the 1970s X-Men.

 ———————————————————————————–

If you were to look at the original X-FORCE team that started The New Mutants comics, you'd notice a roster of characters that included Boomer, Cable, Cannonball, Copycat, Feral, Shatterstar and Warpath. The second volume of The New Mutants was featured with a similar group of mutants, but it had also included Sunspot. The latest version of The X-FORCE comics showed a black ops Wolverine-led assassination squad [who was working for Cyclops], with characters like Caliban, Hepzibah, Warpath, Wolfsbane, Wolverine and X-23- but this later turned into a team with Cable, Domino, Archangel and Deadpool. I suppose we can only expect a combination of both of these teams as a good starting point, especially with the fact that there is continuous talk of a Deadpool film [at this rate, this will happen later rather than sooner] Whatever the case may be, it sounds like Mr. Wadlow himself, has a rough idea [rough idea so far]of who he wants to include in The X-FORCE movie! [see the quote below]
"Look, I’m a huge Deadpool fan, who doesn’t love Wolverine – but obviously Cable is an iconic character we haven’t seen onscreen yet. I love Psylocke, Domino is an amazing character – it’s a long list of characters that have appeared in ‘X-Force’ – Colossus is in the current lineup… There’s a lot of really exciting characters that you can use in ‘X-Force’ that have been in other movies, that haven’t shown up, or maybe there’s ways to re-imagine them, even though they might’ve shown up in other films."
 ———————————————————————————–

What about you guys? who do you want to be in the X-FORCE movie? As for me, I'm always hopeful for a proper movie version of Deadpool [I'm forever a fanboy!] and an on screen version of Cable would be pretty awesome! First World Problems [of living in Canda].

http://static.hypable.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/san-diego-comic-con-2013-line-up.jpg

I'd just like to throw it out there before anyone attacks me with messages, that I love the fact that I'm Canadian. I love the people, the snow [until I feel like I'm freezing to death..], and most importantly the beavers. However, if there's one thing that I find is irritating beyond a doubt is the fact that we've only had [in my area anyways] 2 comic-cons in total.. and even if there were people like William Shatner or Lou Ferrigno; sometimes I feel I want more than that. [call me selfish]. That's what brings me to the point of "San Diego Comic Con; International". This place is definitely on my bucket list. Not only do they attract millions of people every year but they get some insane guests that come to Comic Con for questions&answering. Who are some of these guests? Allow me to list off a few that were there this past weekend [up until tomorrow].

———————————————————————————–

NUMBER ONE; Neil Gaiman [writer of 'Sandman' and 'Coraline']
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lu9b2is0El1r65cx0o1_500.jpg

———————————————————————————–

NUMBER TWO; Chuck Palahniuk [author of 'Fight Club']
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Film/Pix/pictures/2008/10/21/lee_palahniuk460.jpg

 ———————————————————————————–

NUMBER THREE; Irwin Keyes [actor in Rob Zombie's 'House Of 1000 Corpses']
http://cdn5.actorhunters.com/pics/b9/0f/Irwin-Keyes-0467b.jpg

———————————————————————————–
I guess what I'm trying to say is that [in my opinion anyways], the 'San Diego Comic Con' gets all the more recently known actors/writers/artists. [they had the cast of Dexter a few years back.. I'd have LOVED to have been there] I guess I should be thankful for the fact that us in Ontario now have our own smaller version of a comic con, I'm just hopeful that one day it'll expand- and we'll ultimately get even more awesome people like Neil Gaiman!

http://cmro.travis-starnes.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/sandman.jpg
[any author who draws an epic such as 'Sandman' -above- is someone I have to meet!]
———————————————————————————–
So now I'll leave it to you. Have you ever been to a Comic Convention? Maybe it wasn't a comic convention, but another kind of convention? What was it like- did it live up to your expectations? Worried about Jamie Foxx as Electro? Here is how he's going to look in "Amazing Spider-Man 2"

I remember when it was first released online that Jamie Foxx was going to play the famous Marvel character known as Electro and immediately, I felt deeply concerned. Don't get me wrong, Jamie Foxx is a phenomenal actor, but the idea of him playing a villain [let alone, a supervillian] felt kind of out of place in mind. Fans everywhere were wondering what he's going to look like, and are the costume designers changing his suit up? [because Jamie Foxx in Classic Electro's suit- probably wouldn't translate well on the big screen- as seen below]

http://legendscrazy.net/hasbro/mu_sra_back/0027_w5_electro.jpg
[yeeeah, I'm not feeling the idea of Jamie Foxx looking too great in green & yellow spandex..]
———————————————————————————–
However those worries faded slowly, as there were small little hints and newer pictures being scattered online; including one specific picture of Electro wearing a black sweater, and glowing blue? [must be the electricity flowing through him..what else could it be?] The idea of Electro in a black sweater concerned fans, and I actually noticed some comments said the whole get-up looked like something out of Star Wars; which isn't something that technically isn't something that supposed to be in the Marvel world. [to see the black sweater/glowing blue Electro- check out the picture below;]

 [Is that you Emperor Palpatine?]
———————————————————————————–
Thankfully, those fears were destroyed when another photograph appeared in Entertainment Weekly, and although it's not the green and yellow classic suit, it looks almost better; and actually feels like something that would make far more sense, then a big yellow 'thunderbolt star' like mask. [and ultimately, maybe the hood was put on to hide his 'electrified' face from onlookers? Below, I have included the picture from Entertainment Weekly which released the official movie costume for Electro, which will be shown in Amazing Spider-Man 2 and as I said: it's looking pretty bad-ass!

EWElectro.jpg

So what are your thoughts on the new Electro costume? I know it's not the classic costume one, but it should work, right? Do you like it? Or does it feel too 'mainstream'? The [first] trailer to Spike Lee's Oldboy remake has been released! WATCH IT HERE!

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ckdud8Faquo/UdrjMt9uBiI/AAAAAAAAHNM/U2sh7yorISA/s400/oldboy-2013-poster.jpg

I'm sure many horror fans agree that sometimes foreign films are a lot darker, and even more gorier than [most of] the American ones. One foreign film in particular; Oldboy is a Korean horror/suspense film that is extreme not only for it's content, but for the plot of the story itself. [you can read my spoiler-filled thoughts of Oldboy here] One thing about Oldboy is that it's got a lot of graphic topics being covered that I, feel would only suit in a Korean film. [for those of you who have seen the film, you know what I'm talking about.] Oldboy was in fact an adaptation of the graphic novel written by Garon Tsuchiya and illustrated by Nobuaki Minegishi and is the cult film that gave director Chan-Wook Park his name in the movie business. The film is about a man who is set free after 15 years of imprisonment by a mysterious character, who then gives his victim a only few days to figure out the reason for this horrific “punishment” [and even then, that's nothing compared to the twist at the very end of the film] What gave the film it's popularity is probably [as I'm convinced] because of its brutal nature, plot twists and most of all, it's examination of the dark side of human emotions. Naturally, being an older film, [and Hollywood being out of ideas] It came time that this Korean cult classic was needing to be remade! [I know, I'm kind of skeptical, myself.]

http://www.thehollywoodnews.com/wp-content/uploads/oldboy-1024x819.jpg
[just think; rather than Min-sik Choi- as seen above- this time it's Josh Brolin who's being cast into the hellish world known as "Oldboy"]
———————————————————————————–
However, in what feels like a million years later, the trailer has finally surfaced [was released today in fact!] and although some are worried, I'm actually feeling kind of confident now that I've seen it's red-band trailer. Looking at the trailer though, Spike Lee’s take on the classic is [as he intially promised] "just as grimy and graphic" as Park’s had in mind when he made his version back in 2005, and it seems that this version of the film goes far and beyond to recreate many of the shocking moments from the original Oldboy. In fact, if you look carefully enough- some of the scenes in the trailer look to be even more gruesome than the original! Whether or not you choose to enjoy the idea of a remake of what I feel is a classic in cinema, is up to you. Although I love the original, I figure maybe it is time for Americans [who aren't aware of the original] to step into the dark & twisted world of Oldboy. Here, you can watch the trailer for the remake, and as you can see [which is what's got me excited] the hallway fight scene from the original will be incorporated in the remake [but in my opinion, no one can do it like Min-sik Choi!] and was that Samuel L Jackson I saw?!

http://cache.g4tv.com/ImageDb3/316024_S/2013-movie-preview-oldboy.jpg
[Josh Brolin- left | Min-sik Choi- right. who played the character better? Guess we'll have to wait and see the film for a final say.. Opinions?]

From [more] hints from Bryan Singer to Vintage magic show posters - this post has it all!

  • A call to the Maximoff  family home! - A couple weeks ago, director Bryan Singer mentioned that Pietro Maximoff, who is also known to those who read the X-Men comics as Quicksilver [who will be played by none other than Evan Peters!], will be thrown into the mix in his upcoming X-Men comic to movie adaptation- 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past'. Of course, this naturally caught the attentions of fans everywhere who began to wonder & some even questioned Mr Singer [over Twitter, and other social networks] himself if Pietro's sister Wanda Maximoff, who is more known as being The Scarlet Witch in the comics, would also appear in the movie. Now although it's not an 'official' announcement mentioning Wanda in the movie, Bryan Singer posted this hint on Twitter hopefully at the very least hinting at The Scarlet Witch we all know and love; [see the post below]
tweet
[Could this possibly mean we'll get to maybe even see a younger version of The Scarlet Witch as we see into the Maximoff home?]

———————————————————————————–

Ray Parks says he wants to come back to Star Wars - That's right! you read that correctly, Ray Parks, who played the ever popular Sith Lord known as Darth Maul [who we all know met an unfortunate death at the end of 'The Phantom Menace'.] has claimed he wants to return to the Star Wars series! -to quote him directly- "Just give me food and water, and I’m there.” But the real question is can it actually happen? I mean, technically I can't see why he couldn't just come back; I mean Maul as a character has appeared multiple times in Star Wars comics both before he died [back in Episode 1] & even long after he was dead. To further prove that it's possible for him to return, Darth Maul was featured in an episode of the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars. [as a half robotic spider looking creature- as seen below]
———————————————————————————–

Ray Parks says it's just that he wants his dual-bladed Lightsaber back, but [as he says] "with something a little bit spicy.” Park also says that he’d like to go shirtless for a reprising role [assuming he gets his wish], in order to show off some more of Maul’s elaborate red and black body art.

['patience, my Apprentice.. your time will come']

  • Have a look at some vintage magician artwork! - If there's one thing that I find interesting, it's old photos and/or vintage movie posters. Courtesy of The Christian Fechner Collection, there is a book which is has a collection of amazingly creepy looking art used by magicians back in the day to promote their shows. The following art pieces come from an art book called 'Magic: 1400s-1950s'. Naturally, now that I've seen this; I need to find this book- and show it off at any time I get a chance. Below, I have included the description of the book, and then a few [I couldn't fit all of them, if I even wanted to!] of the photos which are actually included in the book;
"Magic has enchanted humankind for millennia, evoking terror, laughter, shock, and amazement. Once persecuted as heretics and sorcerers, magicians have always been conduits to a parallel universe of limitless possibility—whether invoking spirits, reading minds, or inverting the laws of nature by sleight of hand. Long before science fiction, virtual realities, video games and the internet, the craft of magic was the most powerful fantasy world man had ever known. As the pioneers of special effects throughout history, magicians have never ceased to mystify us by making the impossible possible. This book celebrates more than 500 years of the dazzling visual culture of the world’s greatest magicians. Featuring more than 1,000 rarely seen vintage posters, photographs, handbills, and engravings as well as paintings by Hieronymus Bosch and Caravaggio among others, The Big Book of Magic traces the history of magic as a performing art from the 1400s to the 1950s. Combining sensational images with incisive text, the book explores the evolution of the magician’s craft, from medieval street performers to the brilliant stage magicians who gave rise to cinematic special effects; from the 19th century’s Golden Age of Magic to groundbreaking daredevils like Houdini and the early 20th century’s vaudevillians."

Have you ever wanted to take a walk through "Cabin In The Woods" ??

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3v91aoxXM1qj7u8ao1_1280.jpg
[the above picture is from bewarethehorrorblog.tumblr.com . Be sure to check it out!]
———————————————————————————–

The Cabin In The Woods was one of those films that took me a bit to actually realize how damn smart the film itself actually is. With my first watch, I actually felt kind of bored with it; not truly understanding it. However, after re-watching it and actually watching certain cues, and things characters did, I felt that the film was actually a lot smarter than it let on; hinting at older horror films, classic situations with classic typecast characters [such as the hot babe, the stoner, the jock, etc]. What I also liked about The Cabin In The Woods was the fact that the 'monster', wasn't technically one big evil thing but in fact; a big collaboration of  different monsters [and in most cases- the 'monsters' were actually the people around them]

[writer's note; in case you haven't seen the film, I can assure you- this is "the stoner", not the "hot babe". Your welcome, internet..]

———————————————————————————–
But the real question here is would you ever want to experience what the people in The Cabin In The Woods did? What would you do in that situation? Well, thanks to Universal Orlando and their Halloween Horror Nights, you can actually test your luck! Although creating an amusement park ride on a blockbuster film is nothing we haven't seen before, horror movies [especially bloody/gory films like 'Cabin In The Woods'] are usually not the first choice on their minds [Although fun fact: in Thorpe Park, UK; there is actually a roller coaster which is called "SAW- THE RIDE" see picture below for details.] when it comes to these kinds of attractions, & this time around, they’ll be showing us their newest attraction with a what they call a 'face-to-face experience with The Cabin In The Woods.'

http://www.totalthorpepark.co.uk/images/rides/saw3.jpg
[Here's that Screenshot of SAW- THE RIDE in Thorpe Park, UK. According to their official site; 'Riders will be fired through a gauntlet of twisted metal then dragged up 100ft before being dropped through sharp rotating blades.']
——————————————————————————–
However, let's get back to what we're really talking about on this post, and save SAW- THE RIDE for another day. Employees of Universal Orlando mentioned the following about their new attraction:
"..we are building the cabin completely. You’re going to walk through a forest to get there. You’re going into the cabin. You’re going to go into the cube cells. We’re literally taking everything we can in the film and giving you a kind of best-of montage of the film with this kind of linking story. You’re going to be in the control room when merman attacks."
Sadly, they also mentioned that it WILL NOT be a permanent addition to the park, despite all the trouble they’re going through to set it up, put it together and get it ready for the horror fans. It’s only around for their famous Halloween Horror Nights, which therefore means that it's only around from September 20th to November 2nd 2013 to actually be a part of this awesome sounding attraction. [which kind of sucks, considering I'm in Canada; plus I feel work wouldn't appreciate hearing I'm leaving for a week for a ride..]

http://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/cabin-in-the-woods-halloween-horror-nights-universal-orlando.jpg
So what do you think about a horror themed attraction ride? and what were your thoughts on The Cabin In The Woods- the film itself? a Lego movie, a Captain Planet movie & a [brand new] trilogy of Terminator movies? ..wait, really?

For all those kids who grew up in the '80s, and even the '90s- such as myself- we all played with these awesome little colored blocks known as LEGO. Now, to this day there are tons of different kinds of LEGO sets. you can get such sets like LEGO Harry Potter, Lego Batman and [my personal favorite] The Lego Kame House! [yes like from Dragon Ball Z, see below]

 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/NickGreat/Builds/KameHouse/00_kame_house.jpg
[where the fuck was this when I was a kid?]
———————————————————————————–
Now the whole reason I'm talking about LEGO is because someone thought it'd be awesome to actually make a LEGO movie; and I'm not talking about a fan made trailer, or anything but an actual LEGO film staring big name actors such as Morgan Freeman, Nick Offerman, Charlie Day, and even Will Ferrell. Set to be released in 2014, I'm kinda excited for this.. but don't just take my word for it, YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY WATCH THE FIRST TRAILER FOR "THE LEGO MOVIE"! [below]

———————————————————————————–
Another interesting thing to come to the movie world is a new trilogy of Terminator films.. [as if we don't have enough of them, right?] However, the producers have decided they're actually going to reboot the entire franchise. I guess that's one way to get around Arnie's age.. [I mean the guy doesn't exactly look like he does here- below]
http://www.therichest.org/wp-content/uploads/Arnold-Schwarzenegger11.jpg
———————————————————————————–
A press comment sent to Deadline from Paramount- who'll be distributing the new trilogy- went ahead and announced that the new Terminator film, which is set for June 26th, 2015; will be starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator is part of a stand alone trilogy/reboot.. this means we'll have Arnie around after all; and he's gonna look old as hell.. I guess for now all we can say is Hasta La Vista.

——————————————————————————–

A Captain Planet movie has officially been green-lit thanks to Sony and it's apparently going to be live-action; many hope that it'll be Don Cheadle playing the hero [considering he played him in a short in 2011- as seen above.] but it's more than likely not going to be. [hopefully we'll get someone half decent to play the Planeteer.] Don Murphy- who is the guy who brought Transformers and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to theaters- claims he will produce the film. Whether or not people are excited for this is left to time and patience. [I will have to wait for a trailer to know for sure how I feel about it.] I only have one question about this adaptation; Will the Planeteers join the green haired captain?

So what did you think about the LEGO trailer? are you excited, like me, or do you think it looks extremely lame? & what about the idea of a [even more] new Terminator film- staring old Schwarzenegger?
