just a little something I noticed lately: AKA [yet another] personal post by Warren

http://kentuckysuicideprevention.yohansebastian.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/suicide-stay-informed-stay-connected.jpg

NOTE: First and for most, I've decided that from here on out, I'll be occasionally be writing somewhat 'personal' posts - as this is also a personal blog. So to keep with the theme of 'personal' posts, I've decided to talk about a topic that can sometimes be considered 'taboo': suicide.

Suicide, as a whole; is a fucking depressing topic.. which is why this post is going to be [slightly] shorter than most and kept, for the most part, light-hearted. As many [if not all] my friends/close acquaintances know: I work in the funeral business- I've seen many, many things that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Seeing people upset is one thing that I never thought I'd be able to handle as well as I do. In fact, my favorite TV show: Six Feet Under, is what got me into wanting to be part of the business- but that's another story entirely. The point I'm trying to make here is that at work- especially this time of year- is something we like to call "THAT TIME OF THE YEAR". It's when the weather warms up, and the snow is [finally] off the ground, and things are all around looking pretty good: y'know: for most of us.

I've come to the realization that there has been a lot of suicides lately, and it's a fucking terrible thought. I mean, I started working in this field in the summer time, but I've learned fairly quickly that early spring is the time that most deaths occur purposely- for lack of a better word- and it's as exciting as it sounds: it's fucking not! I decided to write this post because I know many people [even friends] that have attempted, and it's not a joking matter at all so I wanted to talk about this topic, because I find it's ignored - or sometimes even pushed aside. [since it's considered 'taboo']

I told myself when I was younger that I'd find a way to help others, in any way possible- and I feel this is one way to do it. I'm compelled to share this because I want those who are hurting to know they're not alone - that there is help available. There's so many places you can go to; like a Mental Health Crisis Line or even a Distress Center; these people are here to help!

So please: reach out if you feel even a little worthless; because you're not. you're so much more than that. You have people that care and love you: even if at times you don't believe it. STAY STRONG; there is someone out there who needs you, just like you may even realize that you need them just as much without even realizing the fact.

just an awesome list of reasons to stay alive. Author unknown.

thanks for reading, Warren.

'I wish you well on this trip to find yourself..'

Wish You Well - Thousand Foot Krutch

I think the band Thousand Foot Krutch said it best when they wrote the song 'Wish You Well' with the following lyrics: “sometimes life feels just like rain, cause you never know when it’s gonna fall down on you.” It just feels like it makes a lot of sense. From feeling a little down, [and who doesn’t from time to time, am I right?] to not understanding what’s going to happen next- sometimes, it’s okay to say “I’m lost.” ! Allow me to go a step or two further, and use my own life experience:

[-deep breath- this is gonna feel like a long one..]

when I was younger, I was a fairly happy kid; despite only having three friends and often times than not being bullied. [kids can be fucking rude, man..] But one thing that used to bother me was that I felt that I was destined to be alone forever - even if girls had cooties and were gross at the frail age of 10, I still desperately wished I could find someone who understood me.

accurate depiction of me as a child..

let us rewind all the way back to grade 9 - with me pictured below [so roughly 9 years ago]; I met my first official girlfriend, [who will be unnamed for obvious reasons] and she quickly became my favorite person in the world. I put everything I thought you were supposed to do in a relationship [what I believed at that age, anyway]: flowers on first date, daily reminders that she was my favorite person, y’know — quirky things that are supposed to remind the person how much you care. Unfortunately, this ‘relationship’ was short lived; lasting less than a month, and that fucking hurt. I had convinced myself that I was right all along: I’m weird, and no one will EVER like the strange kid. why would they? I’m just the weirdo with the deaf parents.

[there's a reason I'm glad high school is over : #blunderyears?]
[Note: I could go on and explain all my other hardships as a now 22 year old male, and how I failed maintaining many relationships until now, but I’ll save you the reading.]

that’s what I take from ‘Wish You Well’ by Thousand Foot Krutch; that sometimes, life does weird things; from being bullied, to now having a good handful of friends I trust with my life. I wouldn’t have it any other way — I love each and every one of you. thanks for putting up with me during the tough times.

Stephanie & I when we first got together: this is the girl I've longed for all my life.

Let’s look at present day now: I’ve been engaged to a wonderful girl for two years, and we’re going on our fifth year together! She’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a significant other: she’s beautiful, smart, funny, she even deals with my DVD Collection!! [I have a whopping 215 DVDs and counting! — and that’s even not including her DVDs!] We’re set to officially get married on October 31, 2015 : which proves that my younger self is lying prick.. but I guess all our younger selves are in one way or another. So what’s the point I’m getting at? don’t you ever let life overrun your thoughts: it’s just not worth it. Life is 10 times, if not 100 times, better than it seems.
The world is just trying to do what it knows best and honestly, that’s what makes it so fucking beautiful.

I just wanted to let this out — in front of me, in words: not just clouded up in my head. it’s not exactly perfectly formatted, but technically; it’s not supposed to be, these are my thoughts after all.

to those who took the time, thanks for reading.

Are you as stoked as I am about these films?? I sure hope so!!

I have some awesome stuff to talk about in this post; this is legitimately the first time in a while I've been this excited for movie related info! From Comic Book adaptations to long awaited sequels; this is gonna be fun to talk about! So without delaying any further than I already have, let's begin! starting, of course, with some info on the Sinister Six film!

http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/7/79709/2219020-sinister_six__earth_616__001.jpg

Sony's Sinister Six film has an official Director:
Who is it, you ask? If you follow me on Letterboxd, you'd know of one my favorite horror films of recent years is [obviously] The Cabin In The Woods. I love the camera work, the direction it took, everything about it is perfect. [in my opinion anyway] For this reason, I'm beyond stoked that Sinister Six's Director is none other than Drew Goddard! He seems to be getting a lot of attention from MARVEL as he's also penning the screen play, and even writing the pilot episode of the upcoming Daredevil series! Only thing is how the fuck are they going to make a movie out of a group of six villains? These guys aren't exactly good. Just what the hell does Goddard have up in store for us? More importantly, will it be worth watching?

is there WRECK-IT-RALPH sequel coming? :
Moving away from comics for a moment, let's talk animated films. I'm sure I wasn't alone in the theater cheering during the film Wreck-It-Ralph. It had awesome video game cameos,  the story was touching as all heck, and it was an all around fun time. But do we really need a sequel? I mean, I feel like the first end perfectly. What else can be done with the characters? Unless they work together on a new threat? [all that's known about this sequel is that "it's in the process of being written".]

Is the Goonies finally getting it's sequel? Sounds like it! :
Clearly, it's been awhile since the first Goonies film was on the big screen, and rumors of a sequel have been around since at least 2007. The idea had crashed and ultimately - burned - a dozen times; but now we're getting something that sounds a little more official. In a recent interview, Director of the original, Richard Donner, has stepped up and said that a return to the Goonies is [finally] on its way! The other thing is what would this sequel be about? I'm just saying, the actors from the original are not exactly the same age as they were the first time.. like more than 25 years older! So would it include new kids to do the adventuring? Or are we going to see a middle-aged version of the Goonies hitting the big screen? [I don't know how I feel about a middle aged version..]

I can't even contain my excitement for this!
So how do we feel about the idea of a new Goonies film? yay or nay? More importantly; how fucking awesome is it that Drew Goddard is doing the Sinister Six film?! Also, if you're interested: I recently saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and even wrote a review on it: read it here!
